The Pokémon TCG
The Pokemon TCG is a Trading Card Game centred around the world of Pokemon. It relates to the Game Boy games, and features the same characters as the cartoon and film series.
The game is recommended for ages 10 and up, but players as young as 6 and old as 60 competed at the 2006 World Championships. We welcome all ages and abilities.
Four new sets of cards are released each year, at around three month intervals. Players have an opportunity to buy and play with new cards at a special price before the general release. To make way for the new cards, older cards are removed from tournament play on September 1st each year. If you have older cards, its okay to play them at League, although we do encourage our players to move to the newer ones. We can help you do this, and it makes for a fairer environment.
You're not expected to know how to play or to have any cards, we can teach you and we have decks to lend while you try it out. If you decide you like the game, the shop where we play sells packs and starter decks (£8), so you can get playing.
If you'd like to learn to play online, there's an interactive demo on the Pokemon TCG website pokemon-tcg.com. It requires Flash Player.
